Our History

Cave Run Area Habitat for Humanity is part of Habitat for Humanity International. Its mission is to help low-income individuals and families with housing and repairs by offering low-interest loans, grants, and fundraising support. The group started on April 1, 1989, as Morehead Habitat for Humanity, serving Rowan County residents.

In March 2012, a devastating tornado struck Morgan and Menifee Counties, leaving communities in need of rebuilding with limited incomes and little insurance coverage. Our Board responded by expanding our service area to include these counties, forming Cave Run Area Habitat for Humanity.

Fleming County joined our service area in 2016 after the local affiliate closed, followed by Wolfe County in 2017. The Cave Run Area now serves Fleming, Menifee, Morgan, Rowan, and Wolfe Counties.

Our board consists of residents from these counties. Serving as volunteers for threeyear terms, members provide strategic leadership, governance, and oversight to support the organization’s mission, while also acting as ambassadors, resource stewards, and advisors to executive leadership.
